Bangalore beat Punjab

The darling of Durban struck with the ball on Friday but in dramatic T20 fashion, there was to be a twist in the tale.
Yuvraj Singh may not have repeated his six-sixes feat here but he rolled his arm over to take a hat-trick, the first of IPL2, appearing to put Kings XI Punjab firmly in the driver’s seat against the Royal Challengers. But he hadn’t accounted for wily veteran and new Royal Challengers skipper Anil Kumble

, who took two for 25 to helped Vijay Mallya’s boys clinch a thrilling eight-run victory. Kings XI needed 17 off the last two overs but Kumble, bowling the 19th, varied his pace beautifully to take the wicket of Kumar Sangakkara, who was threatening to win it for Preity Zinta’s team. He gave away only four runs and Praveen Kumar admirably rose to the occasion in the final over to help Royal Challengers post a much-needed win. Kumble was brilliant in the way he led the team. He made the right bowling changes and was at the top of his own game. His opposite number, Yuvraj (50 off 34 balls), opening the batting, was also looking in fantastic touch but Kumble, after being hit for two sixes, removed the left-hander to bring the Royal Challengers back into the game. Wickets then fell at regular intervals and once Praveen Kumar removed Irfan Pathan in the final over, it was all over for Kings XI. Earlier, it was all going well for the Royal Challengers when Yuvraj turned it around in the last two balls of the 11th and the first ball of the 12th over as Royal Challengers struggled to 145. Uthappa tried to heave Yuvi to give a catch at the deep, Kallis couldn’t read the one that came in with the arm Boucher played for the turn to be caught in front

Chennai beat Rajasthan by 38 runs in IPL T20 match

Suresh Raina hit a 55-ball 98 and Laxmi Balaji took 4-21 to lead the Chennai Super Kings over the Rajasthan Royals by 38 runs in the Indian Premier League on Thursday.Raina cracked 10 boundaries and five sixes for Chennai to total 164-5. Rajasthan struggled and was all out for 126 in 19.3 overs. Kamran Khan did not bat after he was injured while fielding. Chennai's second win replaced Rajasthan in fifth place on the table.Man-of-the-match Raina said he hoped the win would bring Chennai's campaign back on track."Its a good win for us. Everything is looking positive. If we maintain that form things are going to be positive for CSK."Chennai had to overcome a bad start, losing openers Matthew Hayden for 1 and Parthiv Patel for 3 inside the first four overs. Both fell to off-spinner Yusuf Pathan, who took 2-17 from three overs.Raina resurrected the innings, putting on 71 off 43 balls for the fifth wicket with captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni, who finished unbeaten on 22. Raina was dismissed in the last over just two runs short of the tournament's second century. He was caught by a running Graeme Smith in the deep off Munaf Patel.Raina thought he got the hundred because of an error on the scoreboard."I only found out (about the error) when I reached the dressing room," he said. "Anyway, it's OK now, we won the match, it doesn't matter."Rajasthan captain Shane Warne said his team's bowling in the final overs let Chennai off the hook."All our plans had worked well up front," he said. "Having them at 104-5 we should have reduced them to around 135. Sloppy fielding in the last four overs and bad bowling cost us the match."In chasing, Rajasthan was never allowed to settle. Chief destroyer Balaji used the bouncy pitch and made his slower ball work. The pace bowler removed Ravindra Jadeja for 37, the dangerous Yusuf Pathan for 20 at 86-4, Warne for three and Siddharth Trivedi for two.Balaji was well supported by fellow seamers Albie Morkel and Jacob Oram, who also claimed two wickets apiece.

Delhi Daredevils beat Deccan Chargers

A responsible innings by Tillekaratne Dilshan (52 not out) and an enterprising 41 from Dinesh Karthik took the Delhi Daredevils to a facile 6 wicket win over the so-far unbeaten Deccan Chargers.
Despite losing openers Virender Sehwag (20 off 11 balls) and Gautam Gambhir (17 off 15 balls) relatively early, the Delhi team never looked in trouble, chasing what was at best a competitive target of 149 to win.
A ray of hope was indeed presented to the Hyderabad team when Daredevils were 49 for 3 wickets with AB DeVilliers (5) too fell early.
But, the fourth wicket stand of 79 between Karthik and Dilshan almost steered Delhi home, and Mithun Manhas (3) was with Dilshan for the last rites.
This puts both teams on 4 wins each, at the top of the table.
Earlier, Deccan Chargers recovered from early setbacks to set the Delhi Daredevils a competitive target of 149 after Daredevils captain Virender Sehwag won the toss and sent the Chargers in to bat in Pretoria.
Both the Deccan openers, Adam Gilchrist (8 off 5 balls) and Herschelle Gibbs (0 off 4 balls) were dismissed by Dirk Nanne, inside the firts three overs. Contributions from Azhar Bilakhia (23) and Rohit Sharma (16) kept the score ticking over.
A swashbuckling partnership between T Suman (23 off 14 balls) and Dwayne Smith (48 off 28 balls) of 65 for the fifth wicket raised the scoring rate and a couple of good shots from Venugopal Rao (16 off 15 balls) saw the Hyderabad team reach 148 for 9.
For the Delhi Daredevils, Dirk Nannes was the star performer with 2 wickets for 16 off 4 overs.
